Workshop on: Nanotechnologies for HealthCare
Trento, May 25th-26th, 2012
Topics:
Safety and Regulations, Nanomaterials/cells/body interaction, Nanosensing, Nanodiagnostics and Imaging, Nanovectors and nano-based medication, Tissue engineering and regenerative medicine, “Smart” nanomaterials.
Invited Speakers (provisional list):
Gang Bao (Georgia Institute of Technology, Atlanta, USA), Sangbok Lee (University of Maryland, College Park, USA), Maurizio Prato (University of Trieste, Italy), Chia-Liang Cheng (National Dong Hwu University, Taiwan), Michel Vert (CNRS, Montpellier, France) Utkan Demirci (Harvard Medical School, Boston, USA)
For medical uses, the interaction of materials and devices with the body occurs at subcellular level and with a high degree of specificity. This can be achieved with nanotechnologies for specific cellstargeted applications to prevent, image, control and treat health diseases with fewer side effects and higher therapeutic efficiency.
The Conference will take place in an informal setting surrounded by the beauty of Trento and the Alpine area. The chosen venue is the Buonconsiglio Castle, a medieval castle in the center of the town, originated from a fortified building erected in the 13th century next to the city's walls.
